We are open for business and loosing jobs. I am in Georgia. I have one main line and one roll over. The rollover line is also the fax line.

Back in the day, oh wait, I just worked on one :-) We have the same arrangement. The key is a Comswitch 5500 on line 2. It captures the CNG tone and rings the fax machine if a fax and the phone if the CNG is missing.

Shame that Command Communications is out of biz.

If it was working correctly until now, perhaps your system was put into night mode with no custom programming beyond factory default.

Q. Have you ever needed to transfer a call to the fax extension when the incoming fax call has no CNG tones? Whichever method you may use would tell us how the fax is connected to the system.

There are several ways to share a fax line. Because you dial "9" for the fax to send, the fax is likely an extension via an SLT adapter - or - you have a centrex line that requires everyone using line 2 to dial "9". Do you know if the fax has an extension on the system?

If you have the SLT adapter, here are some ways it could have been set up:

1.
If using a line share device: "phone" could go to line 2 of the KSU and "fax" to a line 3 input. Line 3 would always ring the fax extension and having the fax dial "9" would allow it to grab either line 1 or 2.

2.
If using a Dispatch VM, the auto attendant could have fax detect turned on to transfer calls to the fax extension.

You were given two scenarios. It's hard to answer your question if we don't know how it's set up.

You say you're loosing business, so why haven't you called in a tech to get this fixed?

Dial 0 instead of 9 on the fax and find out what extension (if any) it is attached to. If it is an extension you need to make sure the fax line is programmed to ring to it if you have a dedicated number or if not then simply transfer faxes to that extension. If it still doesn't recieve after ringing then check the fax itself.

Let me try this again, i hit send and the entire message did not go thru.

Fax is extension via SLT expansion. The fax has never been connected. I set up fax via Admin software/set up/advance systems settings.

Turned on "fax detect active". Fax transfer prefix set for "17" fax phone number "line 2 phone# "

Ext 17 is set as member 17 VM on

Fax can be sent pressing 9 and fax destination
Line 1 & 2 are set for time control

Fax is sending after pressing #9 However Fax is not receiveing

Any Suggestions?
