Xts. Customer called this am. Lines 5 & 7 had no D.T. Was like that when they opened. The lines were lite red on all phones. Removed bridge clips at nid, test at nid, lines now ok in system. Wonder why I'm getting gray.

Thanks Gary s

Yes. The telco usually refers to at as COD, cutoff on disconnect.

Oh my, this subject has been discussed many times and every telco has their own terminology for loop supervision.

Telcos using Nortel DMS offices generally refer to this as COD, or Cancel On Disconnect.

Those using ESS offices use the industry-standard terminology, which is loop supervision.

We also have the issue where service providers come up with their own terminology for this decades-old standard. CLECs don't understand it at all, so every time that this situation occurs, we find ourselves feeling as if we must re-invent the wheel.

I really don't understand why all of a sudden, the most basic function of a loop-start line has become such a mystery to the service providers.

industry-standard terminology

It's tough enough when a customer places a service order to add 3 new lines when they really want 3 new phones. This happened to me again just yesterday.

But Bell had Touch-Tone so everyone else had to use DTMF. Was that was the start of this mayhem? Do CLECs think every term is copyrighted? I'm trying to give these knuckleheads the benefit of the doubt but I suspect the real problem is that they really don't know the industry terms to begin with.
