We currently have a Mach1 with a Digital Dispatch Voicemail system. We have 6 CO lines coming into the system. I've been thinking about how we could save some money, and I started thinking about VOIP.
Someone I was talking to recently spoke very highly of a service they're using for their home phone called Ooma . As far as I know, Ooma is a residential service so that wouldn't work. But is there a way to convert our incoming lines to VOIP? We have a separate internet connection that could handle phone calls.

Am I going crazy? Let me know.

Thanks!

Almost all of the main VoIP carriers can supply (or you can supply) a device that will take the VoIP (SIP) trunks and make them into regular CO lines so that they can be terminated on the Mach 1.

Beware of carriers though and stick with a large name and make sure that you retain the rights to your numbers if you decide to leave the service. Take their recommended bandwidth and double it and make sure you have enough bandwidth going up as well as down.

Also, if your business is dependent on the telephones I would steer clear for now. It is not worth the hassle and potential/likely issues to save a few bucks if your business is totally dependent on the telephone service. Issues may be minor or completely terrible, it really varies by carrier and your bandwidth.

You cannot do SIP directly into your present phone system.
