Trying to put off upgrading my hardware store phone system. We're using a Landmark KSU system with a DKS1224. Our current KSU is at rev 12, and it's got a variety of quirks (dead lines, dead extensions). I obtained a reconditioned KSU but it's at rev 9. I have the SWB remote programming software with all the programming stored for the current KSU, but the software won't connect to the older KSU rev 9 unit.
I have both rev 9 and rev 12 programming software, but the data files I need are all in rev 12 format. Is there a way to convert them back to rev 9?
Alternatively, can I pull the chips from the rev 12 KSU and put them in the rev 9 KSU? I think I actually upgraded our current KSU from rev 9 to rev 12 a few years ago by installing new chips (eproms). If I do this, what eproms do I swap?
Thanks in advance for any guidance!
John

Member Rated: posted 02 March, 2007 05:09 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This was a problem SWBell faced with the Landmark. We never found a fix for the problem and neither did SWBell, between this problem and the Voicemail I think this is what put them out of the key system business. Its not just a battery problem, it doesnt take a power failure to cause this, it will just loose all or some programming, as a SWBell dealer we sent plenty of these back for repair only to get them back and a few weeks later the same thing was happening again. The one thing we did have luck with was to put a huge BBU in front of the system. Like a 1500 or 2000 APC and nothing else but the system in it. But that didnt work at all locations.
I'm not a landmark/southwest bell pro but this is some info I got from an expert. They are getting old and very hard to fix and replace. We upgraded to an avaya for our customer that I talked about in a previous thread, and I will never work on another landmark again. As many may tell you... upgrade now and save yourself the headaches. Long story short, our customer loves the partner/avaya, but I do understand it may not be the time for you. Check my 'thread' on landmark... there are a few guys with alot of knowledge on these ksu's and maybe just haven't seen this thread yet. btw, I have many 930 phones and a 1224 that seems to be working great after we took it out of the high voltage/machine shop it was in if your interested. Just my 2 sense.
What a strange world we live in...

I had a land mark system that was in service until the last lightning storm but thank GOD the customer changed it out with something new. The reason I post this is because last time I needed to find parts it was very hard to find them I do not know if I was looking in the wrong place or what but In my opinion I would look at changinging out your system.
