For the life of me I can't seem to get Caller ID display to work on
the NEC Electra Elite 192 I'm setting up.

I verified that CID info is coming in after the first ring on the CO
lines in question (using a buttset with CID display capability), and
I've triple-checked that the various NEC KSU memory blocks concerning
CallerID are set up right:

System is currently configured with 24 station ports (8 analog) and 12
incoming CO lines, stand-alone (no connections to other PBXs or NEC
Electra Elite KSUs)

- All phones are at least 8-line-key multi-line display stations
- I've designated all the ports they're attached to as System Wide
CallerID display locations
- I've made sure that each station (port) is a member of an access
group that has full CallerID privileges enabled
- I've made sure that the CO lines in question are properly assigned
to ring at the stations I want CID info to show on.
- I've also tried erasing all the SystemWide CID port definitions and
assigning callerID display info on a per-CO line basis to individual
ports.

None of this has worked; during incoming calls no station will display
any kind of CallerID information. Any suggestions? It'd be really nice
to see the callerID info that's being paid for on the CO lines.

Thanks!

Also the COID(8) can only be in slots 1 through 4.

Hmm, it's a COI 8.

I assume that means it doesn't support Caller ID, correct?

Thanks for your replies.

There is also a COIB(8), that does caller ID, but you need a newer software rev. I think 7000 or higher.

A feature & specs manual would have saved you a lot of time. Also a hardware manual would help.

1st things 1st.........

if you have a coi8-no caller id. no way. no how!

you need at least a coid8 or a coib4 or 8. if you want to save callerid you'll also need a mifm with a kmm.

i'm thinking that drpbx is right in that you have to have 7000 or higher software for the coib cards. although i can't find it in the hardware guide right now.
-----------------------------------------
programming (going by memory here):

7-1 assign the card (and the mifm card too if you have it)

7-3-04 to assign the mifm card to class=1 i think

1-1-78 assign ports to show callerid (no more than 15 can show callerid)

1-8-08 class of service allow the callerid

make sure the lines ring the phones either via dit/ana (3-43/3-43) or day/night ring (4-01/4-02)

that's pretty much it unless you get into callerid call return or callerid on car keys.

if you have the mifm & kmm you can assign a scroll key to the phones that display the callerid to scroll thru the last 50 or 10 calls (depends on the software version). this is done in 4-12 per port. if you don't have the mifm & kmm you can still view the callerid, it just won't store it. you'd have to look at your display when it rings.
