I have two NEC phone systems: 1) Professional Level 1, 2) Elite 48. I am having problems getting DTU-8-1 phones to work on the Elite 48 while at the same time they function just fine on the Pro Level 1. I also have a set of ETW-16D-2 phones that work on both systems. The DTU phones only have the first pair connected on the RJ-11 connector. I have tried both combinations of connecting to the Elite 48. In both cases, existing, functioning ETW phones go dead when I connect the DTU phones. It appears as though I am current limiting a power supply when I plug in the DTU phones. Any thoughts / hints would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.

I am pretty sure that I am using the correct pairs in that I can get both types of phones working on the Pro Level 1 system. In the case of the Elite 48, I am using the integrated ESI(8) on the first 8 pairs. Is there a chance that there is a modification or an option on the DTU phones that would allow them to work on a Pro Level 1, but not on an Elite 48 system?

Thanks!

I have done some further testing with an Elite 192. Both types of phones work fine using an ESI(8). Using the same ESI(8) in an Elite 48 results in the same failure as before, the DTU phones don't work. I have also swapped the power supplies between the 48 & 192 with the same result. I have concluded that there is a problem with the Elite 48 MBD-U10 main board.

Thanks for the assistance.
