on an elitemail in an ipk, can the directory ask for the persons first or last names? I know by programmin a "dummy" mailbox this can be done, but it becomes hard to manage when new employees come and go, also the vm says the ext number before transfering the call, this can confuse the caller.

you can specify either searching by 1st or last name.

exit to the dos prompt

type
names first then enter
or
names last then enter

then type vm start enter to restart the vm

thanks chris, but the client wants both, 1st or last names as some people who call may only know the first name, I programmed the dummy mailboxes and it works but it gives the caller the "dummy" mailbox number before transfering, can I elimate that so the caller doesnt get confused?, i looked all throuch access codes and system setup and see no reference for this. thanks buddy.

Another choice would be to have people set up their mailboxes using their first or last name in the "spelled name" option. Callers would have to know to spell "Anne" instead of "Smith," even though the system said "last name," but otherwise it's a systemwide change.
