My office is getting a new phone system.

Currently, we are using an old AT&T Partner Plus.
We have 4 incoming lines and 11 extensions. We need a good voicemail system, but other than that our needs are pretty basic. We will not add more than 1 or 2 more extensions. I'm not planning on going to VOIP.

I have been responsible for maintaining the current system such as adding extensions, programming, and moving the system to a new office. I'm good with technology, but I'm a CPA by training.

We have 2 quotes so far. One is for NEC DS2000 and the other is a NEC IPK. We are also getting a quote for a NEC IPK II.

My question is what are the differences I would notice between the 3 systems?

Also, would I be better served getting a refurbushed Nortel Norstar System?

Thanks,
Robert

I would suggest that you contact your local NEC dealer and ask for a demo of both IPK systems and see what solution suites you the best. Regard preloved systems. Unless they can be updated to "state of the art" software I would avoid them unless your needs are basic..

We sell all three of the NEC systems. NEC halted all enhacements to the DS series systems last year to gear up for the introduction of the new DXS system by the first quarter of this year, yes it is late. The IPK ll is the newest of the 3 system you asked about. We have installed 3 IPK ll at this time and we like them. The IPK 11 pricing is less (not by much) than the IPK but you get more for the buck. I agee with Paulw buy new, in a year or two you might want to add a VOIP phone or unified messaging.
