Hey, folks... I hope you guys can help. We haven't used our phone system in about a year, but now we find outselves in need of the features. But, the person who knew everything was fired and our production guy quit. The only thing we can do is answer and call. I tried to enter 300 from a couple extensions, and nothing. I tried softkeys on Ext. 100 and nothing. How do we get night feature, voicemail, etc. working again? Is there any way to just reset the system and start all over? Thanks!

Well, it is technically possible to wipe the slate clean and start over, but that's surely not a job for an end user. It is way too complex. My suggestion would be to locate an NEC dealer in you area who can do this and show you how to use the system's features. It will certainly cost less in the long run. There is an "installers" button at the top of this page that may help you locate someone locally.
If there's not one available, please post back here with your need for one and we will assist you in locating someone.

OK, there is one here, but we were hoping not to spend that kind of money. Kinda hoping to do this inhouse.

When you say you haven't used your phone system in a year, does this mean you had it in storage? If this is the case the memory battery went dead and when you powered up the system it came back up default. This would be why voice mail is not answering and the softkeys are not working. Or your voice mail is dead. If you have Elite mail and it does not answer the softkeys will not change.
Ed is correct on telling you to locate a NEC dealer. What you need done is way over your head. Keep in mind it takes years to become good at what we do. A good tech will re-program this system to your specks and test in a matter of a few hours or less. It will take you days of programming and writting to this board on how and what to do next.
If you are good at this type of thing than I am sure the tech will give you some tips and pointers when re-programming the system.
Please don't spend a dollar to save a dime

OK, we had the voicemail stuff reprogrammed this morning. Transfers, voicemail, night feature, etc. works. Now, how do we get the phone to play music or a recorded message? I hit feature and 26, says music set... what from there?

Sounds like memory block 1-8-31 was set to external & you don't have an "external" source plugged into the MOH RCA jack on the side of the KSU, if this a Elite 192, if it is an Elite 48, the MOH RCA input jack is on the main board inside the KSU.
