I am a moderate level installer and a friend purchased a "new" ready to go system ds 2000 with 8 phones off ebay. I have never delt with NECs. it came with a tiny piggy back daughter card wich is suppossed to be the voicemail card with a 128MB 8hr nec compact flash card that would not read at all in voicemail or computer. couldnt even format it with windows or nec intramail util. i assumed the card was bad. replaced it with a 1 GB compact flash from comp usa. read fine in intramail utility and it coppied its voicemail files to the card. but the voicemail feature on the system isnt working AT ALL. it dosnt answer ever. cant dail ex 201 - 208. cant dail 500 - 507. when dialing 700 just ring no answer. and when i log in as admin 1 it will not let me go to program 8001.
Any help would be greatly appriciated!

What version software? With handset in cradle push the 8 key.
The voice mail is plug and play. You should have not tried to format it.

I have had customers by this system off of ebay with intra mail and hired us to install it. We would show up on site and find the CPU card was a A card, it has to be the B card.

cpu card is DX7NA LCCPU A1 vm card is IP1WW-DSPDB-B1. Software version 3.21.00. I formatted the card because it appeared to be bad and or non functional.

What is the difference between the A and the B cards? I came across a customer with an older DS2000 and couldn't update the system because the cards were the wrong version to be flash upgraded.

Thanks.

difference was A version cpu's would only go to s/w version 2.xx.xx and was not able to utilize intramail. B version's can handle intramail and s/w 3.xx.xx. Also remember some older digital station cards won't work with cpu B.

Also I thought you had to use NEC's flash card because of some embedded proprietary format?

If the system is NEW from ebay, the seller on Ebay should replace the non-functioning card.

CPU part number will be 80025B or 80025A! DX7NA LCCPU A1 is not a part number!

All of the DS2000 CPU cards are labled DX7NA-LCCPU-A1. The stock number is the real identifier. There were 3 different LCCPU cards released over the years, all with different memory configurations:
80025 - Version 1 software
80025A - Version 2 software
80025B - Version 3 software (required for IntraMail)

If the system is running 3.21.00, then it's an 80025B and it supports IntraMail.

Your problem is with either the DSPDBU (the daughterboard the CF card is on) or the CF card itself. You must use an NEC DS-Series IntraMail card with this system, a generic CF card will not work. (IntraMail cards are copy protected.) I recommend the following:

1) Download and install the latest IntraMail utility software. (https://ws1.necii.com/ds2000/d2kdownloads/d2k%20files/software/software_updates.html#Anchor-47857)
2) Click "Select" and make sure the data fields in the "IntraMail Card" section are correct. If they are, your IntraMail CF card is good. If not, you should contact the seller.
3) Click "Initialize" to restore the card to the default condition.

If this is successful and the card still does not work, you may have a problem with the DSPDBU card.

I hope this helps.
