Hello Techs, I am working on a 2000 IPS. Customer wants 2 door phones to operate. She's wants to press a code or press a button to operate a door strike to let people in.
Will I need a special card? If so what type? What type of Door phones would I use and how would I program? Thanks Louis

Three ways I have done this I have used a viking or similar door phone box that incudeds a relay to operate the door, you could use the built in relay on the CPu or a DK card to operate the door, or you could get an external Door phone control that would sit in between the door phone and the system and provide the relay function you need.

Hasn't your system already got this card in it? It is the CPU and really expensive to replace. The one you have is also the one you are licensed to use and any other from anyone but NEC would not be licenced unless you paid NEC aswell as the people you buy it from.

I agree with R4+Z. I have found that going with a viking relay box is an affordable and quite easy solution. Incoming is routed to a CO port and outgoing is routed through an analog port. Problem solved. Point the ring of the door bell anywhere you want. An extension or a door bell. Of course if you point it to a bell you will need people to group pickup the call. Which my IS group seems to be incapable of. Also they don't pick up when you call them directly. They still don't know why I can always yell at them through the phone when they don't pick up. Voice call is an ace in the phone guys pocket.
