This is an FYI for others who run into a similar situation.
We have an Electra Elite 192. Recently we replaced a 4-port single line card with an 8-port one. The card was in slot 5, and there were ESI cards in slots 6 and 7, so there was concern about what would happen to the port assignments. When a 4 port card in the middle of a shelf is replaced with an 8 port card, the new ports are assigned the next available numbers. Also, the original programming on the first 4 ports is erased, but all the other programming stays. This is also what might happen if a system gets a 4 to 8 port voice mail upgrade.
Original setup:
Slot 5: SLI(B)-4, ports 53-56,
Slot 6: ESI-8, ports 57-64,
Slot 7: ESI-8, ports 65-72.
After upgrade:
Slot 5: SLI(B)-8, ports 53-56 and 73-76,
Slot 6: ESI-8, ports 57-64,
Slot 7: ESI-8, ports 65-72.
Ports 53-56 needed to be reprogrammed.
