I am now administering an IPK with Elitemail LX in it. The customer has no record of the IP address set on the VMS card and because of that I cannot get in to the web console. I have tried the default 169.254.0.1 and that does not work.
Is there a way to get into the serial port and find out or change the IP address of the card?
Thanks,
David

Hi David,
I'm also in Denver, if you need hands on assistance let me know.
You need Hyper-terminal and a null modem serial cable. (same cable used by co-session on the standard elite mail)
Make a new connection in Hyper-terminal and setup the connection for 38400, 8,N,1
You should get the 'Login' prompt just like logging in from Putty.
Once you log in you'll stop the voice mail service, then enter the maintenance menu. There will be an option for network settings. Your IP & subnet etc.. are in there.

D,
Do you work for a telcom company in Denver? I got the hyper-terminal set. Do I need to set the terminal emulation type? VT100? ANSI? TTY?
I get nothing when I connect.

Yes I work for a local Denver telecom. You can PM me and I can give you their contact info or if you have never been a customer of ours I can do the work for you directly after business hours or on the weekend for much less.
I don't remember changing any settings in the hyper terminal settings except for the baud rate.

I tried a different cable today, and still no luck getting to the login screen, but I do get some data now from the VM card when I shut it down (using the shutdown switch) then power it back on. Below is what I get. once it gets here, nothing happens, the voicemail is up and running, I get green, but I can not enter anything. Anymore ideas?
Thanks, David

Are you sure this is an LX voicemail?
MS DOS was only used on the standard elitemail. The LX voicemail runs on the Linux os.
You'll need co-sessions software to get into it.

The LX needs Putty software to connect. Co-session will not work

It's not an LX if it's booting up with DOS.
