Our school is looking to install a paging/PA system, but our campus is 60 acres with approximately 10 small buildings. We're not currently in a position to run cabling all across campus.

Does anyone have any experience with a reliable, inexpensive wireless(RF) paging system?

You might want to check with these guys. I don't think the words "reliable, inexpensive wireless(RF) paging system" should be used in the same sentence though.

You might want to consider other alternatives- do you currently have any wiring like for telephone or computer network between the buildings?

We once ran into a similar situation, and got around it by using VOip, Beaming the signal from one building to another, then using Multi-Tech Multi-Voip devices to send the signal to an amplifier.

Not sure if this will help you or not, knowing what kind of phone system might give us an idea of what the best solution for your case would be.

Sure. Matter of fact Valcom makes a whole line of equipment for putting PA audio on a network. I see no reason why you couldn't take that a step further and use wireless network transmitters and receivers to augment whatever wired or fiber network there may be. Bonus there is that you can use it for data also.

If all you need is a PA system in several building then why not just use a transmitter and a bunch of receivers connected to each buildings amp. If you need to be inexpensive use a FM radio band transmitter and FM radios for the receivers.

the cheap way

Hobbytron?

The assembled version can only be shipped in the USA if you sign a form. It protects our company from the end user causing trouble with the FCC, it basically says you know and will follow the laws in your area. The form is for Hobbytron.com and is not sent to the FCC or anyone else.

Yeah, ok. Arrrrgh! Shiver me timbers!
