Will be installing a door box and interface with an existing door latch system.

Ordered the 29PGDAD....the installation information is vague to say the least. No schematics, and the DSX system programming info is even more vague.

Any assistance, please?

Ken,

I've been told there are very detailed drawings in the Hardware Manual for the 2PGDAD. Additionally, each feature that can use the 2PGDAD has step by step instructions on how to program. Please let me know what additional information you need so we can provide it.

I recently set up a 2pgdad (which I playfully call the doo-dad). I had to call tech support to help set it up (since there are jumpers and dip-switches to set, in my case, it was for a total of 3 paging zones), the tech on the other line compared it to launching a nuclear submarine.

Among other things, I had to reset a card to get it to program right (the whole system would glitch out when I tried to upload port settings). However, once everything was ticking over, it all worked (and continues to work) fine.

I just looked on the site for any documentation, nothing specific to the 2pgdad seemed obvious. I did check through a hardware manual, but it says nothing about the dip switches, port settings etc.

Any chance you could let me know what I'm missing DD?

JJ, just what we found.....the hardware manual shows the card but not what screws to hook under, etc. etc. etc. Sorry, DD, someone told you wrong.

In programming it keeps speaking of an "open" and "close" soft key.....do you mean I need a Super 34 Display? laugh

Sorry, NEC probably uses this on several other systems and figured we'd all be certified ( or certifiable) techs and they teach this on day 11 of the 10 day DSX course...just pulling your leg. laugh

I'll pull the manual in the morning and give you the page numbers. Thanks, JJ and DD.

It's the DSX Hardware manual, pages 58 to 60.

Sorry Ken, it's there. See previous post.

A Super Display is not required, any phone will do. When on a call to a door box the Open/Close soft key will appear if the door box is assigned a door relay. For example, on the DSX-40 set pgm 2101-06 for x326 (1st door box port) to "DSX40-1" (1st relay). Call x326 and the Open soft key will be available. When pressed, the relay will go on and the soft key will change from Open to Close.

Hope this helps.

Not meaning to argue DD but where exactly does it discuss placing the jumpers for additional paging zones (and where you must program the ports on the system)?

I ditched these weak lenses and grabbed my great grandpa's coke-bottles and still I see nothing regarding that on the pages you mention (it does show very well the door box configuration though).

 Detailed?

I am looking at the manual P/N 1093096, page 59, and the verbage tells the installer to "connect as shown". No pin or strip numbers. Same for the relay connections. Just a focused view of the strip, vague drawn lines on the other strip, nothing telling of the closed or open status of the relay. Does the connections start on the second screw? Or does the wiring skip the first connection? It is hard to tell from this picture.

I guess I was expecting to be told a connection and strip, not a general picture with minimual detail. And, yes, I need glasses to read, I am far sighted since my cataract surgery. laugh

Good point KLD, I'd probably think different if I were to be installing a door box.

As I said, I was using it to add 2 more paging zones (so that they could be programmed onto buttons.)

Paging for the DSX is pretty straight forward UNTIL the doo-dad, I agree.

Thanks for the help, JordonJ.
