We have been working on a problem for a few weeks now dealing with phones making crackling noises. They will crack and then sometimes disconnect the call. Other than moisture in the lines and connections being bad what else could make this system do this?any ideas? NEC DS 2000

A couple of basic questions.... Is the phone system grounded? Is the noise happening on extension to extension calls? Is it affecting all of the outside lines going into the system? Is it affecting 1 line? Do you have any lightning protection on the lines? Is the system on some kind of UPS?

have you been on site and duplicated or are you taking the customers word for whats happening ?

We have a 8 person conference bridge installed and recently when users call in they get a lot of crackling and echo making it impossible to communicate. Internaly the bridge is clear.

I am not a Phone expert, any ideas on what I can check. I have asked our phone vendor to check the T1, Reset the NEC so far

So let me get this right if you fill all 8 with extensions there is no crackling noise? Is there any noise on regular calls to outside the company?
