Purchased a DSX 40 to install for a customer. Software version says 1.3 when I log in through my laptop. Have an Intramail also connected. Setup for answering after hours, after I get the auto attendant message when I enter an extension number it rings the phone but never goes to that phones voicemail. my DAT says that 3 is an UTRF (unscreened transfer) to xxx. Under the extension in question I have all calls on B/RNA going to that extensions mailbox and it works if I manually transfer an outside call or call internally over intercom. Also works if I call into the auto attendant and have the phone in question in DND. What gives, can someone help me.

I have noticed that this system and voicemail has alot of similarities to the old DS-01 and NVM. I sell Avaya now, but am not happy with thier Partner platform and am looking for something to put my "basic needs" customers into. Saw this at a trade show and was impressed.

I would check programming of CF answer timers.

CFWD is set for 15 seconds, and as I stated the only time it does not forward to voicemail for a station selected from the main greeting, then it rings for approx. 60 seconds before it goes to that stations mailbox, (I just did this and just let it ring and ring and it finally went.)

I'm assuming you have prog 2115 to overflow to 700 (vm) correct? I would upgrade the system software to version 2.24, which is the latest.

Agree with Ron.I would for sure upgrade your system
software to 2.0 or above. Many changes with 2.0 above
and will solve a lot of future issues.

Latest software release being ver 2.25.

I checked the programs that you mentioned, they are set for forwarding to 700(voicemail), as stated it only seems to be a problem when the call comes in through the AA. Although the Intramail DAT says that it is an UTRF (unscreened call transfer) it seems like the AA is not releasing the call, as it does as stated earlier finally come back to the canned greeting and says that ext is not available and sends me to that extensions mailbox (after about 60 seconds) Is there a specific program to activate UTRF for the AA?
What I did do is turn on AA DND on in the mailbox (ext 301) and that did work, but I would prefer to get it working properly as I know that they work sometimes when the operator is not present and the customer will want to take calls instead of never having a chance to do so as it will go directly to thier mailbox

as Ronp and STSe pointed out current software is 2.25 so can we assume you bought this used ?

did you initialize it prior to setting up programing ?

you might try initializing and reprogramming

Skip, bought the unit brand new from Graybar as a kit with 3-22 button phones, reset and intialized system as outlined. Was told by the NEC rep at a trade show a month ago that "system should be good to go right out of the box". I will purchase a flash card and reader to retrieve the newest software from NEC's website as suggested by others. Are there any versions of software that you would recommend that I use or don't use. Also any suggestions or tips on downloading the software from their website and loading to DSX. Also was there an issue with 1.3 that would create the issue that I am having?

Being new I would call NEC tech support tomorrow and see what they have to say

cant help you out on the software upgrade , I haven't had a need to upgrade any yet

Skip, in regards to just happening to one extension, I have two set up for testing to familiarize myself with the system. It happens on both of those 300 and 301. I will take your suggestion and call tech support in the morning. Seems that it should work properly out of the box, but we are dealing with electronics and software. At this time this is the only thing that I see that does not work as it should.
