For those of you who are used to using the remote firmware upgrade feature on the IPK II, don't expect it to work on the SV8100. I just tried to use it to go from 1.1 to 2.5. The proper USB stick (don't try to use the smart stick) is in the system and the 2.0 PC-PRO could not upload to the usb stick. NTAC says it is a bug on all versions at this time. You will have to do the field upgrade method. Please reply if anyone has found a work around.

I never recommended remote upgrade down here as it is too suspect and usually required two visits. Better to do it after hours with a tech on site..

I agree with paulw, I have never done a remote upgrade. Simple upgrade on site.

Not only that but the USB Stick has to be left in for the remote upgrade forever. I agree this was a stupid Idea
As far as Scandisk's USB they had I think it was called U3 software or something any ways you can go to Scan disk and download a format tool for the USB's. It removes the U3 software and formats correctly and its just a standard USB drive.
I never have had any issues with the "old" processors AFTER I used the free software.
I use also for a backup a 2 gig "Corner Office" 12$ Special from Walgreens and have never had issues with that one on old processors
