DSX80 Fax Card programming?
Anyone have the generic programming setup for a fax card in a dsx80?
the problems I am having are two fold, one, some faxes will not go through and from what I have found there was a weird handshake coming from the fax that is behind the card in the dsx80...one noise was a blip right at the first of the handshake and then a split second later there was a screech that should not have been there...little did I know you would get different handshakes on your end if you call it from a cell or from a land line behind a phone system...ie, if you called the fax number from a cell, it always sounds fine but if you called if from a phone system, you got the blip and screech...I swapped out the fax with an exact twin that was known working and blip/screech free, now the screech is gone but the blip is there still if you call from a phone system but with a cell no more blip...now just need to figure out the blip or if it is of any consequence...
second issue is how would I program that extension to just ring off the wall if a second call came in while the fax was busy...right now it ends up rolling into the man system after 5 or so rings which ends up on the receptionist phone and she answers thinking it is a regular call...that one took a while to figure out...we just thought people where sending faxes to the main number...
TIA

Just My 2 Cent's, But wouldn't It be better to Take the Fax Line out of The Main Rotary Group. Then The Second Fax will Get a Busy.

I just want to get it set to not roll back into the main extension/receptionist...

I always try to persuade the customer to have the fax line as stand-alone and not connected through the system. However, if the customer insists on "sharing" the fax line with the telephone system, then assign the fax line as DIL to the fax extension (program 3112).

I believe one thing you should do when using a fax line through the system is set the off-hook signaling to camp-on (Program 2116). That way if a fax comes through while the fax is sending or receiving, the call will wait for the extension, but about the only time I worry about that is when using a PRI where the fax as a stand-alone (as Billy Bob mentioned) is not possible.

2116 is all set to camp on, just changed the OHS Lines from 'off hook ring' to 'camp on' a few days ago and the change I noticed was that if I call said fax line (which is one of my offices in another city), let the fax pick up, hang up and call again to get in the second position, it will now, instead of ringing over back onto the receptionist/system owner extension to where it just says 'your call cannot go through' and then dumps into generic voicemail land then if you don't push any buttons, rolls into the recepionist/operator extension....
just trying to isolate that ext to go no where but that extension...it's confusing me...like an option that is not obvious

Does the system have IntraMail installed ? If yes, then CO calls answered by the IntraMail Auto Attendant can automatically be transferred to a fax extension. This is configured in programs 4222-04 and 4222-05, or if you are using a Directory Dialing Mailbox, programs 4224-04 and 4224-05. If IntraMail is not installed, you can still use the Fax Detection feature if you choose to use the Built-in Automated Attendant feature .
