the company i work for uses NEC DTP-8D-1 telephones. in my building we had 2 phones (extension 363 and extension 364) and 1 ethernet port. we rearranged and made the port for extension 363 into an ethernet port and replaced extension 364 with 363. so, once upon a time, someone told me how to program 363's extension into 364's port by typing some codes into the phone. since then, there was a melt down with the port box and the lines have been reset. i just need to know how to reprogram the phone to pick up 363 and not 364.
anyone?

We'll need to know what the system is that is running the phones.
Most likely an NEC IPS2000 or IMX2400....
Those phones will ork on several different NEC systems and they all program differently.
Thanks

You will need to go into the phone closet or server room. Or just a place where all the phone wires run to. There should be a grey, beige or blue box on the wall and should say NEC on it. There could be some other writing like NEC 2000IVS or something along those lines. We would need to know what the writing says. Or you can describe the box.

It won't be an IMX as that is the big system and can't be programmed from the phones. So it is a toss up between a key system like the Xen or a pabx like the IPS or IVS all of which are wall mounted and none of which are beige. can you remember the log on sequence or any of the ways you changed which programming area you were in? any of these will give us ckues as to whether it is a key system or a pabx. Once we know which it will be relatively easy to guide you.

seems that you will need to access system programming and access command 9000 and make sure that the ext 343 and 344 are both buttons on that phone.
then access command 93 and change the prime line of that ext to be 343.
We cannot post how to access system programming in the open forum. Please handle this through contacting your vendor or sending a member here a Private message.
EDIT: R4+Z you can edit by clicking the pad and pencil icon at the top of your message.
