Hello all,
I'm a newbie to this board and am having an issue with our system I hope someone can advise me on. I apologize in advance if I use the wrong terminology or don't provide enough info; I've had zero training on our system and what I've learned I've learned by looking through the manual. Our system is an NEAX 2000 ivs, vmail is thru Avaya, our phones/console are NEC Dterms, and I'm programming via a phone wired to the block.

One of our depts recently revamped its office and moved computers and phones around. They did this without my input, or I could've prevented the confusion we have now. Basically I need to move extensions from their old locations to their new ones. I went into the system and confirmed what ports were assigned to what extensions via F52, then used Cm10 to clear those ports and assign the new extensions. I confirmed the changes as I went along.

I ended up with a fast busy when I called any of the changed ext's. I saw something in the manual that indicated to reset the card in the system, and when I did it the extensions actually rang through. Only problem is, is that despite the programming showing the correct ports, the phones aren't ringing where they're supposed to. None of the changes are taking effect.

I'm sure I'm missing something basic, but don't know where to look.

Also, I know that when our experienced vendor tech came out he could get into the system via laptop. That guy is gone, his replacement is learning as he goes along, and I need to take care of issues sooner rather than later. How do I go about getting the software, password and training to do some of this minor admin stuff myself? I've asked the vendor for this stuff twice already, and while I can understand its job security for that company to keep the info to themselves, we bought the system. I should be able to access it.

If anyone knows the magic code to fix the issue, or can advise me on how to get the other info, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you--

Deleting the extensions created a ton of work. I would have just moved the cross connects. You need to build the buttons in cm9000. Also check cm93, 1303, 73, 94. to name just a few.

Thanks for the quick reply.

So am I too late to set the ports back to their previous assignments in the programming and then move the cross connects? I've been hesitant to move any of the wiring on this thing because of a lack of experience and a vendor thats difficult to get onsite if I screw it up.

But then again.... I think I've already done that. Screwed it up I mean.

Yes, too late. You must rebuild each extension. You will find some programming on each phone already, because the time slot does save programming. The problem is all you time slots are now muddled.

Can you point me to any training manuals? I've made a note of the commands you listed above, and I'll ck the command manual on Monday, but that manual doesn't really outline how to build an extension.

I'm sorry -- I guess I need the NEAX for Dummies book. I can build a server from bare metal and send programming to PLCs, but I'm lost on phones. My company gave this added duty to me to try and save cash and I'm sooo not looking forward to getting a bill from the vendor to fix this. Never mind the fact that the current NEC tech doesn't have the skills yet either.
