I am going to be mounting a TV and placing the CATV reciever in a closet. What is the cheapest way to be able to utilize the remote control with the reciever in the closet? I looked on Cruchfeild.com and some of the hardware I saw required a hub, wallplate, and flashers. Is there anything else out there with a cable that just "extends" the IR reciever. Thanks in advance!

you can either go RF or IR. RF is going to cost a bit more but be much easier (take a look at harmony remotes). If you go IR you need a run of cat 5 from the screen to the closet. I personally like the IR kits from Proficient audio. If you have an ADI near you they carry them. The Proficient will have a small receiver that mounts right to the screen (like in inch or two long) that runs back to the closet where you will have a flasher, power supply and small hub. they work very well and will allow you to control multiple devices

RF & IR you can get a Harmony 890 or Harmony 1000 or Harmony 1100. ADI also carries the full Xantech IR dinky-link lines where you can specify plasma, LCD etc. They have a CAT5E kit also, but you don't necessarily need it as there are only a few significant conductors and you can cut and "jellybean" a CAT5 to increase the transmission distance from the components you wish to control.
