I think I'm getting just enough knowledge to be dangerous. I've reassigned extensions, programmed buttons on the console, turned on DO restrictions, activated extensions... and I've NOT crashed the system yet.

I have to tackle the next issue, and I'm not looking for a freebie, just looking for something to point me in the right direction so I can figure this out myself.

We have an office by the loading docks that I just placed a Series I 2d phone. Apparently back before the ice age they had a phone in there that was setup so it would not only ring the phone, but a bell out in the loading area. I'm using the same extension as before with the phone I just placed, and not only can I NOT get the bell to ring, I can't get the phone to ring either. I've toned the jack back to the block loud and clear.

I've ckd the setup on another phone in the plant thats setup to ring a bell, and duplicating that setup isn't working.

What is this type of functionality called? I've been practicing the theory of RTFM, but I'd like to narrow the search a bit. :scratch:

Chances are there is an analog port connected to the loud bell, that analog port's ext is most likely programmed as a button on your digital phone and is assigned to ring in CM 9001.

Thank you. I vaguely recall seeing the button programming in Matworx and there were a number of entries. I'll have to ck that tomorrow.

This is going to sound incredibly stupid, but I probably have another jack to ck too then? A single jack can't have both digital and analog...?

You basically have two options in this instance. either give the loading dock office an analogue phone with the loud bell off it. Or you need two circuits one digital for the office and another analogue for the bell. you then make the analogue have the extension number you want in the office (give the digital a dummy number eg one with a * as the last digit)and you can then program the digital to have the analogues number on it's main line key (Cmd 9000) and then use Cmd 93 to make the phone think it's prime line is the one that is on the analogue. That way when the bell rings you just pick up the digital to answer it.

Word of warning though make a note somewhere of the dummy number you gave the digital as at some future date it will be a real pain trying to do any programming on it. Also remember that any restrictions need to be programmed on the analogue extension.
