I'm sure this is a strange question.
My mother just bought a property with six buildings. The previous owner ran a business from one building, lived in another, etc. All of the buildings have phone lines wired into an NEC IPK. My mother isn't planning to get any landlines. Is it possible to use the NEC IPK system and phones internally only for paging between the different buildings with no outside lines?
I'm familiar with an old NEC Electra system, but never had my hands on an IPK.

yes
you do not need to connect any lines to the system to use it as an intercom/paging system

Without POTS, what you've got there is a very expensive but full-featured intercom.

Thanks guys. I was pretty sure it would work like that. It may be a very expensive, full-featured intercom, but it came with the house.
I guess I'll add that to my list of things to do on Saturday. If nothing else, I'll get experience with the system.
