I have a IPK that has a license for 48 ports. I currently have 1 - 16ESIB and E, 1 - 8 ESIB, 1 - 8COI, 1 4port voicemail card. These cards equal out to 24 digital, 8 coi, 4 voicemail ports = 36 ports. The system will not let me add another 8 esib card. I have slots 3,5-7 available. I get an error when I try to install the card. I have tried resetting the system. any suggestions as to why I can not add the card?

You have the Basic Package that will allow 32 Ports Max. You Need the (PKU 192-U) installed on the CPU.

Actually the port count for a basic package IS 48. However, you can have only 32 stations (digital or analog) and 40 CAR keys, or a total of 72 CARs and station ports programed. You can also, have 16 basic trunks. This makes a total of 48 physical and 40 CAR (phantom or secondary incoming extension keys). and 16 trunks either copper or T-1. Simply, this means you can add a 4 port station card only without installing a PKU chip.

The B2-48 hasn't been sold locally since at least 2004, but there's a lot of them still out there floating around.

The PKU is not sold from NEC anymore. They ended support last fall. I believe October 2010. Gray market is the only option as far as I know. But, then you run the risk of getting a bad one. They were burnt out alot from techs installing them backward.
