i put in an nec system for a guy today. dont know much about it. couldnt find a name on it but it did say bds 4 slot and part no 8000 on the ksu. customer wants to know if this system can have caller id. the box is black plastic. does anyone know what the system is called and if it can have call id. thanks dave

Its a DS2000. A moldy oldy. Yes it does support caller ID, but I believe you need a daughter board for the CO card and some programming for it to work.

Depends what cards you have in it. Download the manuals from NEC. It is really easy to turn Caller ID.

If the unit has an 4ATRU or 8ATRU card, then caller-ID is supported - just activate it in program 1001 (select DSP option).

They would need a "b" processor and "b" line cards or caller ID daughter boards.
What cards are in the system and what id the software version?
