I am trying to replace a networked HP all-in-one with a Lexmark. I am interfacing the Lexmark with an HP Jetdirect 175x USB print server. I cannot get the Lexmark set-up software to recognize the printer.
When I access the USB print server using it's network IP address, I can review it's set up parameters and it indicates it sees the Lexmark but does not indicate it is "attached".
When I run the Lexmark set-up application and select "networked" printer, it does not see the printer.
Any suggestions I might try?

I think the HP print servers only support HP.
Have you tried D-Link?

if the lexmark is "net workable " you don't need the server
if it has a Ethernet port then just plug it into the network and then try running the software

Don't install the printer as a "Network Printer". Install it as a local printer, but choose to add a new port. You need to install the JetDirect as a port, and then the printer as a local printer using that port.
For an all-in-one unit it would be best to have a device with built in network capability. You won't be able to use the scanner or fax functions through the JetDirect.

Ok, what you really mean is I need to call a professional.
"......install it as a local printer, ...choose to add new port.....install JetDirect as a port.....printer as a local printer using that port....."
Way, way, over my head. I'll stick to phones and call computer tech.

When I run the Lexmark set-up application and select "networked" printer, it does not see the printer. if the setup disk gives the "networked printer "option I would think it would just be a matter of plugging it into the network and running the set up application whats the Lexmark model number ? we can take a look at the options

Set it up as a local printer not a network printer. When you are asked what port in the dialogue box choose "create new port" then select "simple tcp/ip port" then fill in the IP address when prompted. That's all there is to it.
Add printer ---> next ---> local printer (deselect PNP detect) ---> select create new port radio button (dropdown) ----> simple tcp/ip ---> enter address (dialog box) ---> install driver
