Got home last night and had about 75 emails in my inbox on my business email (AOL). They were mostly returns as "Undeliverable" but I did have a few replies asking why I had sent blank emails.
Apparently some creepy crawley thing had sent blank emails to everyone in my business address book.Ran a virus check- showed nothing- and a malware cleaner. Seems like I read something about this lately. Anybody had any experience with this. Thanks

Could be forged from: address in the email header.

Post the full header here so we can see.

Are you sure its your address book? Sometimes your email address can be harvested from someone elses computer thats been compromised and then it send emails using your address as the sender. Its a pain when that happens but not much you can do about it.

Yes, they were all mostly business contacts out of my AOL address book.A lot of them were old and invalid, hence the 75 or so returned as undeliverable. Didnt figure there was much I could do about it. I would really love to have the maggot or maggots responsible and punch their faces in but I know that aint gonna happen.

Gelehu,

If you suspect the machine has malware, check out both(!) Spybot Search & Destroy at https://www.safer-networking.org/ and Malware Byte's Anti-Malware https://www.malwarebytes.org/

Both are free.

Microsoft offers some decent antivirus at https://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ for free, of course.

If you are still suspecting some sort of infection, and you're running XP, check out how to use ComboFix... But don't run it until after you check with the fine (and smarter than myself!) folks at https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Have a day!
Tod.

Ok. Odd that nothing picked anything up, unless it was one of the (somewhat rare, but they do exist) memory-resident only pieces of malware.

Sorry we couldn't find anything!
