This voicemail unit looks like what I need to interface with a small Toshiba DK 424 installation. However, I'm wary of buying something that has no support from the manufacturer. I've noticed that the www.aleentech.com website is offline and their parent company, ITS Telecom [ www.its-tel.com ] doesn't list it as a current or past product on their site - although the Vocal/Vocal Jr. devices look like the same device with modified software. Am I going to be able to get firmware and software support for VME 4000? For how long? Am I just being overly cautious?

I use the VME 4000 with Toshiba all the time, and it is a smooth integration. Support is weak, and repair issues are almost impossible to resolve. I had three dead units, and was able to get one out of three fixed for $150. You can buy this unit private labeled as an "Executive Voice Prophet Lite" from Executive Voice in Texas, and they give marginal support. I would say that for a simple, easy to program unit, the VME 4000 is great if you are technical enough to tweak the integration. It has an install wizard that sets it up for a 424, so it doesn't take much to fine tune it. Ask me if you need help, or I'm sure others here can help on that. Just make sure you get a warranty.

"smooth integration" is what I need. I'll make sure I've got some kind of repair/replacement warranty from my vendor.
Contacting ITS Telecom customer service yielded no response in more than a week. I'm glad someone else is out there listening.

Consider CTL. The PC based VS6 and the small Momentum, both integrate very easily with Toshiba. My only complaint with the Momentum is they only have 3 hours storage. For some reason the 8 hour version is no longer available. Check out www.CTLinc.com.

Steve Do yourself a favor. Buy a Toshiba Stratagy and quit screwing around. You want smooth intergration cant be any smoother the using the same maunfacture. You can use a DK card or IVP8 for inskin voicemail. Then you wouldnt need the RSTU2 and all of the cabling.

You have a point, if the cost is no too much more. The Stratagy is a much more powerful VM, with the attending complexity of programming. If you need simple VM without a ton of features, I still like the Aleen. The integration is really easy with the wizard, and the Windows GUI is nice. There's my 2 cents worth.
