trying to make a 505 run; as a kid I used to be all over them, and RR & L2(?) were always the line terminals despite the diagram. I follow the diagram on the side now  and I get nothing. Dial tone but the dial has no effect.

L1-L2 should be your line terminals.

The dial pulse contacts are across F and RR, and F is the terminal closest to the line terminal.

So if you are connected to L2 and RR, I believe you have bypassed the dial!!

Move from RR to F and you should be good, although as Alvaphonepro points out, you should be on L1 instead.

maggiomail, make sure the line you are testing on will accept pulse-dial. I had to ask for it, to get it. DTMF is the standard anymore. I remember when DTMF was an 'extra-cost option'! Does that make me older than dirt?
