Q-west recently delivered an outside Demark at a location that is to have a Data T1 and ISDN circuit. There is not TELCO closet at this site and they delevered the Demark and then jumped off to a Small Grey box that is labeled with my circuit ID's. The box doesn't have any lights on it like a NIU and no "Cards" are visable. It just has four screw terminals for each circuit. I have not seen this before and was wondering if anyone knows what this is?

in short the answer is Yes. I can't seem to locate my manual for that box, but the provided rj45 outlet runs straight thru. (assuming it is the same make and model they use here) The plug that is already installed pins out funky though, just pay attention to where their wires go on the plug and you should be home free.

We're seeing those a lot lately. The cards are located in that deep cover, you probably need a security hex "booth-wrench" to see them and check the LEDs.

The jack/plug combo is like a standard SNI for dial-tone, the jack is the Telco side, and the plug goes to the screw terminals for the customer's wiring.

The 8-pin jack is wired RJ-48-S, using 1&2 and 4&5. So far so good.

The 8-pin plug is wired Black on 1, Yellow on 2, Green on 4 and Red on 5. If you were to run a Cat-5 cable to a Cat-5 jack, and wire it up 568-B, you would just tie the Orange pair down to the Black/Yellow and the Blue pair to the Green/Red. Don't connect the Green or Brown pairs at all.

Now although the polarity of the individual pairs doesn't matter, technically you should terminate the White/Blue wire on the RED terminal, and the Blue/White wire on the GREEN terminal, as the plug is wired up with this pair reversed for some reason.
