Dear Experts
I have a question. The problem is that the carrier people are giving me DS3s (3 of them) and the telephony cards that I use are analog. They said that I would have to buy the mulitplexers. I checked a few out which are quite pricey plus I am not sure how that will work as I don't see RJ45 on the back of them. I said RJ45 because at the back of my analog cards, I have RJ-45 holes. I will appreciate an honest advice. Thanks

I'm confused. Your topic heading says "T1 to Analog" but your post is mentioning 3 DS3's. If I remember correctly, a DS3 is equivilent to 28 T1's, which would be the equivilent to 672 analog lines x 3 DS3's would be 2016. Is that what you're getting?

You’ll need to MUX the DS3 down to 28 DS1’s. THEN break the DS1 down to 24 DS0 level analog channels via channel banks.
You really need to post more info here but a quick response would be… I always like Adtran schtuff, so for a MUX, I’d look at Adtran’s MX28xx series and for a T1 channel back, I’d say look at either Total Access 1500’s. You can check their stuff out at Adtran.com.
What kind of payload / traffic you putting on these things? What’s the usage / environment? ‘Cause the “RJ-45 hole†statement and analog card is really puzzling me. :scratch:
NFCPhoneman, your math is correct BUT I’m take a long leap in assuming he’s got two DS3’s for traffic and one for protect (backup.) For 1344 available analog lines.

Thank you for your quick replies and sorry to be confusing. I have to Mux it down from DS3s to T1 to Analog. The RJ 45 statement is that my card has only RJ45 holes(4 of them) in it. So I have to have the RJ45 (ethernet) going into them. One Rj45 handels 4 channels or 4 analog phone lines. So My question again is that to achieve that what kind of equipment I am looking at? And yes I am getting 3 DS3, which equals to approx. 2000 analog lines. Thanks

OK I have found this out. Need yur advise if I can optimize this scenario
I have 3 DS3....I would need 3 m13's to convert the data to 28 x 3 T1s
Now I have 84 t1s. I would need 84 channel banks (TDMs) to convert them to analog signals.
From here I would need 84 amphnol cables to take the data from channel bank to the 66M block.
That will have my 2016 lines in analog. Now I have something that I can plug my analog boards in.
Does this sound optimized. Do I have some space here to save on equipment or labor here.

Optimal situation? Uh, no! Sounds like a pain in the arse to me. How committed are you to the analog interfaces? Ideally, you could switch to something, (whatever kind of system it may be) that would take the digital DS1 handoff.

Just out of curiousity, what kind of phone system are you using for this application?
Based on what you're describing you'd need: 3 Adtran MX2800 DS-3 Multiplexers (DS3 to DS1) 21 Adtran TA-1500 channelbank using quad-port FXS (DS1 to DS0 analog) cards, which you'd need 504 of 2 84 position DSX-1 Crossconnect bay (one for the muxes, the other for the TA1500s) 4 DSX-0 Crossconnect bays (5 positions @ 100 each) to terminate the channelbank
Not sure how XO is delivering the DS-3's, but they may furnish the DSX-3 crossconnect panel.
If you stacked the TA-1500 shelves atop on another with no space, you'd need to add a fan shelf approximately every two units. So, with that in mind, somewhere along the lines of seven 84" racks, plus associated ladder rack.
You'd also need DSX-0 facilities for the station cabling.
