I'm looking for a list of codes that relate to alarms on ckt's. I've searched and can't find a list that explains what the codes mean.

I have a pretty good understanding of Telcodia’s CLFI coding (Common Language Facility Identifiers) but I’m not sure what you are specifically asking. Sorry.

thanks for the quick reply, what i'm looking for is the code references like the example I posted. I'm not sure if i'm asking the right questions, or if that 1 correlates to a CLFI code? I get other numeric codes ranging from 1 to 5 show up in that field. That's what I need to know, what is that?

That's just the circuit ID, if I understand your question correctly.

Man I swore I did this before but I couldn’t find it either. Here ya go, CLFI demystified! I hope! LOL

* FORMAT 1 - CLFI Codes for Cable Facilities (pretty much obsolete now)

* FORMAT 2 - CLFI Code for a Pair Within a Cable Facility (pretty much obsolete now)

* FORMAT 3 - CLFI Code for a Carrier Facility
FAC DES / FAC TYPE / TERM A / TERM Z

* FORMAT 4 - CLFI Code for a Channel in a Carrier Facility
FAC DES / FAC TYPE / CHAN / TERM A / TERM Z


- Fac DES = Facility designation. (i.e. the carriers name) Mix of alpha numeric that give it a unique name
- FAC Type = The rate (T1, T3, OC-3 etc) and frame and coding of the carrier.
- Chan (Format 4) = A way to notate a subtending channel of said carrier.
- Term A = The CLLI (common language location identifier) of one end of the carrier circuit.
- Term Z = The CLLI of other end of the carrier circuit.

(note for both term A & Z... Once upon a time these CLLI's were arranged in order of importance so to speak... Currently they’re arranged in alphabetical order.)


Since the ones posted by you Bob early on have too much info X-ed out, I'll show a couple examples and then translate.

101/T1ZF/STLSMO11/STLEMO11K02
101 = the name, "the 101 T1 carrier."
T1ZF = DS1 rate, with B8ZS & super-frame.
intentionally omitting the channel to show a format 3
STLSMO11 = STLS (saint Louis) MO (Missouri) 11 (central office # 11)
STLSMO11 = STLS (saint Louis) MO (Missouri) 11 (central office # 11) K04 (a 1/0 DCS name)

A607/T3Z/28/OFLNMOXA/WNVLMOXAK05

A607 = A carrier named "A607"
T3Z = DS3 rate carrier with B8ZS capabilities
28 = the 28th channel (format 4)
OFLNMOXA = OFLNMOXA (O'Fallon, MO USfreakin'A ) XA (main)
WNVLMOXAK05 = WNVLMO (Wentzville, MO) XA (main/toll) K05 (fictitious DCS designation)

What's throwing me is he says "alarm codes". Other than the event date and time and clear date and time I see nothing else. Also what is pulling this information?

You guys are awsome! and quick! I work for a branch of AT&T and our job is to monitor circuits, don't do too much troubleshooting , as were suppose to refer them out. But I come from a technical background in computers and networking and unlike others I work with, need to understand what I'm looking at and very curious! The alarm i refer to is from a program we use called BMP and that's the output I see from the alarm screen. It shows a alarm on the circuit and thats the info i pasted. I think I know the system you're talking about, or a similar one, it would show the hierarchy of the trouble so if you have a DS0 report and your system shows a T3 failure you're not messing around shooting a DS0 trouble. It was related to an auto test run when a ticket was created.

A lot of the troubles we were refered had a reference to the alarms in the ticketing system. I've been retired for over 8 years so I'm sure the system names have changed.
