We have been asked to take over service on a DXP rev 15a, 2 cabinets, and I wonder what documentation I should have in order to decide if we want to get involved. We have very limited Comdial experience, none on the DXP. I am a member of the Download Club, but the files listed there aren't very descriptive. Any help? Thanks.

The DXP manuals are in there along with the terminal programming manuals. If you don't have much Comdial experience then you sure picked a bad one to start out . Does it have voice mail and what are you going to use to program?
The Comdial manuals are famous for not making much sense. You really should know Comdial to work on the DXP.

I know thats not want you wanted to hear.

Added: What docs are you looking for maybe i can point you in to the right manual, there all in there.

As stated above, The DXP is a little difficult to work with, and the documentation is a little muddy at best.

You really need the Windows GUI program to help you program, mainly since the tty interface will not allow you to make a backup.
15A Software is pretty good and the hardware is really stable.

The phones, like the 7700 series and some of the Impact 8020 series will go bad after about 7 years as the internal button pads wear away. (I think every phone out there does this......)

The Comdial keypads can be repaired! Very few repair houses will bother. We will. 800-797-0070.

Ouch! I'm glad to hear about the stability of 15a, but the rest of your news isn't good. The request comes from an old friend, though, and there are no longer any Comdial dealers around (that I know of) so we may still want to tackle it. The VM is Repartee v.7.47 and we should be able to handle that unless its got particular problems with the DXP.

I dl'd the big manual, but its only through ver. 9 or something. What others do I need to get up to 15a? What about hardware manuals and feature descriptions?

The phones are all 8012s-pt except the attendant, which is the PC console. Probably another big ouch.

Is the GUI program available? What's it called and where can I get it. Will I be able to work around any password problems?

Thanks in advance.

Jim

There is a little add on in the manuals for the 15B that tells you the new features. They basically are the same with the exception of a few new features with newer releases.
You will have to get with Tipandring for the GUI
The big manual goes up to 11B
Allot of time there will already be a programming terminal set up on site with the system, you may want to see if that is the case with this one.
