My company uses executech phones - I recently purchased 4 refurbished units and when I went to replace them, they are getting a dial tone, but the lights do not light up to tell which line is on it is as if the line functions are switched inside - Is this a possibility or are the phones defective any assistance one could give will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

The answer depends on the system. It would be easier to answer if you told us the model of KSU (central control unit) and the model #s on the telephones that you are plugging in, as well as the phones that you were using in those locations previously. An Executech I phone will work on an Executech II system, but the system (the individual ports) must be programmed to use them. Executech II phones will not work on an Executech I KSU, ever. It is remotely possible that the phones are all defective. The Executech telephones, as they have been aging, have developed keypad problems. This is a repairable problem for us (we repair telephones) but most repair companies cannot or will not repair the keypads.

It sounds like you replaced the phones with different units (part#'s)
Do your phones that usta work have led's next to the buttons at the top (the 2 rows of buttons) and do the new ones? If you can call me 866-451-4545 I'll find out what the problem is, but first look at the tag on the side of your key service unit (KSU)and get the model #

As stated above we need to know what system and what phone models you have. On the right side of the KSU you will find a white sticker with the system model #. on the bottome of the phones you will find there model #. Let us know what you have and then we can help you.

paul144,
What's your turn around time for comdial phones that you repair and what do you do on them? It's most always buttons but what else do you look at while you go through them.

DTMF,
Our normal turm-around is 7-10 business days from receipt of the phones to ship. Utah is a 5 day ship via UPS ground for us, so 17-20 days for you, often quicker. Right now our repair techs are pretty well caught up so that we are shipping in 3-5 days from receipt.
As far as what goes wrong with the Comdials, buttons are pretty much it... We also check all of the solder connections and repalce any solder that's looking like it might go. Occasionally a speaker or a mic dies. Occasionally other parts on the board blow. Once in a great while, an LCD will die, but rarely. Bottom line is we fix whatever is wrong and do a thorough check to see what might be ready to kick later.

paul,
Do you also check the hook switches, I have sent phones off to be repaired that had a bad hum on them and got them back as no problem found, so I ended up getting some hook switches from sandman and fixing them myself. Needless to say they don't get any of my business any more.

Thanks for the info.
By the way it wasn't you that repaired them.

DTMF,
We have been fixing Comdials for over 10 years now. We have a very large database of problem complaints and how to fix them. At the top of the list for "hum" of any kind, after we rule out a bad handset or cord, is the hookswitch. Yes we replace them. I should have mentioned that as another problem that we see, but most often the hook switch problems that we see are because the customer lost their temper, smacked the handset down, and snapped the pivot. Anger management would save everyone a lot in repair costs, lol.

Well speaking of repairs.

There is a company in Tennesee that starts with a K that will no longer get any of my business.
They drove me over the edge this last time when I sent some phones in and they all came back with thier name plastered all over the boxes and the bottom of the phones (I really don't want the customer to start sending the sets to them directly) and to top it all off they are now charging sales tax just beacause they are being repaired in Tenn.

Oh well. I just had to let off some steam.....

BTW Paul do you have a fix for the poorly designed hookswitch snaps on the Unisyn and Impact sets?

DJ
