I'm pulling hair here. Power outage, three sets still ring, two don't. Checked out the ringing ones, compared to the not ringing --- all the same. Deleted and reprogrammed. Still not ringing. Any suggestions?

It's not in Night Mode by chance is it?

If it's not a night or alt ring mode issue:
First verify the ringers are on by pressing the volume up button on an idle phone that should ring but doesn't. Next verify it's not the phone by swapping one that doesn't ring with one that does. Next, in programming, the 3 ringing phones could be in a UCD group while the others are set to ring in the co line programming. You may have lost one program parameter when the power came back on. Note that the battery that holds up the programming might be weak or dead (some systems were shipped with batteries that were already crapped out.) Last, make sure you put some kind of battery back up, surge protection, like an APC350 on the system. These things do not like power fluctuations. Hope that helps, let me know how you make out. Mark

Mark is right. Check hunt group 6(ucd 415). The original installer might have used the ucd group for the direct ringing.

Yes, you are all correct. UCD415 all set as member 1. I put a UPS/surge on it. The sets are okay. On incoming ring the three light the assigned button, the bad do not. The display shows the ucd, etc. but the other two set there like lumps ! CO and EXT all the same information. Even the external bell rings. Scratch, scratch, splinters under my fingernails. I will be back there with a long enough ladder and get the software, etc., info. It's up against the ceiling with a long power extension cord. I put the UPS at the outlet. I'll let you know when I get back on it.

Make sure you have a good database archive (unless you desire to program the whole system from scratch) then power down the system and move the cold start strap over for about a minute. Move the strap back to normal, fire it back up and restore the database. I've seen more crazy crap occur on the DX80 from brownouts and hard surges. Everytime now when one is doing weird stuff, I cold start it and everything goes back to working.

We had one that was brand new, and yet we had to keep going out on for the same thing: the phones would ring once, then go to auto attendant. It was supposed to ring four times, then go to auto attendant. I think Comdial even replaced the system once, because they couldn't find a reason why it kept happening.
After 4 or 5 times of the same problem (all of which were cleared up by cold starting), we took a chance and replaced the UPS. The problem never returned. It turns out the UPS was a Tripplite 600, and we had been having problems here and there with them. Needless to say, after going thru different problems with at least a dozen of these UPS's, and having to pay to ship them back to Tripplite, we changed brands.
Bottom line on the DX80, though, is that the previous posts are right on the money! A cold start will almost always cure the strange problems. A firmware update is my other solution for those problems that can't be explained (have you ever read a bug report on things reported and fixed???)

Oh, yesss !!!!! I like that idea. I knew on of you guys (experts on Comdial)would aim me the right way. Working on this system is like changing a flat tire on the freeway during rush hour without pulling over !! It's an auto parts store and it never quits ringing. Thanx to you guys,
Ken.
