I have set-up a Comdial DX-80 with a Corporate Office DX Hard Drive voice mail system (4 ports).
The system does not turn any DET auxiliary lamp (that is when there are new messages waiting, of course).
I have already checked that there is at least one outgoing line allowed. Line #4 was the only line allowed and I already tried by allowing outgoing calls in lines #3 and #4 without any luck.
This morning all DETs (with new messages) had their lamps on and a message on the LCD indicating the number of new messages. My guess is that the update happened during the voice mail automatic exit to DOS during the morning. However, I tried exiting the application and loading it again (govm.bat) and no lamps went on.
Thanks for your help. ------------------ JC

JCD, a couple of things. First the exit to dos, by default, only happens once a week, usually 3 AM on Saturday or Sunday. And all it does is defrag the disc and reboot to the VM. Second, does your system have heavy voice mail traffic all week? if so, you may need to edit the file to do a defrag every night. If the system will light the message waiting lights, but doesn't do it in a timely fashion, it usually means a lot of traffic and a more frequent defrag is in order. mark ------------------ Reliable Telephone Service

> First the exit to dos, by default, only happens once a week...
That explains why restarting the application had no effect: the reboot did not happen one night before the lamps went on as I thought.
> Second, does your system have heavy voice mail traffic all week? ...
Well, what do you mean by "heavy traffic".
My guess is that it does not.
a) It is being used as an auto attendant. As such, it is answering 10-15 calls/hour on average. 30 at peak hours (one or two hours per day)
b) It has been taking around 10 voice mail messages per day.
Yesterday I also realized that some lamps go on and some don't.
Any idea?
Thanks.

That's not too busy. first step, access VM database with keylink software and open a non working MB, on page one check for the sequence to turn on MW lamps and the sequence to turn off MW lamps, make sure those entries match the working mailboxes. mark ------------------ Reliable Telephone Service

Besides, even on those MB in which the message-waiting lamp goes on, the lamp is not always turned on. Any ideas? Thanks JC [This message has been edited by jcd (edited August 17, 2005).]

By the way, also the lamp of the button to which the voice mail extension is assigned is on. 2) I tried invoking the manual message waiting update pressing <Ctrl-F1> from the main screen with no result. Thanks. JC [This message has been edited by jcd (edited August 17, 2005).]

What software firmware are you running on the KSU and Voice mail?
Comdial's latest software is supposed to update the lights through the back plane but it requires the correct match of software and firmware.
"Release: 8.5.11b Voice Mail Release Comdial announces the release of Corporate Office DX version 8.5.11b for the DX-80 7270c/7271c Voice Mail. This release contains the following new features and enhancements. Note: This upgrade is required to support two new features in DX-80 Software Release F39: Message Waiting Indication via backplane, and KSU/VM clock synchronization. This voice mail release is backwards-compatible with all previous software releases."
Also all dos based VM's reboot every night at 3AM, they only do a defrag and scandisk on wed by default. You can see this in the diskm.bat file in the VM dir. If you want to set it to defrag every night you can edit this file where everyday except for wed instead of saying for example
ECHO today is Monday goto END
you change this to ECHO today is Monday goto WED
By sending every day to WED this will have the VM doing the defrag scandisk routine every night.

What software firmware are you running on the KSU and Voice mail? The KSU reports K16UM0.A33 (from PCDBA) The voice mail reports V. 8.5 (from KeyLink main screen) As you can see it's been a while since I created this thread. I was not able to follow this problem one year ago. Now I am retaking the case and it is very important for me to find a solution. All your help is appreciated.
