I am HORRIBLE with acronym and designations to the point where I have to stop and remind my self what POTS stands for at time when the customer asks me. Going into special service designations for DSL and stuff at the pop or nti is just a nightmare and makes me look real "bright" when I have to think about "plain old telephone service".
Is there a "telephony dictionary" that lists all these acronyms and service des a dyslexic like me could use for the customer?

Newton's Telecom Dictionary by Harry Newton. 953 pages. About $30-$35.

I use this for acronyms. As long as you have an idea you can find it. https://www.acronymfinder.com/ Also do a search on google for telephony acronyms, brings up lots of stuff see if any of it helps. Bill

I met Harry Newton (guy who compiles the telcom dictionary) in a bar in colorado springs. He wouldn't give up a free copy though.

They should make one on phone systems and terminolgy. Ever try and sift through some mauals? The panasonic DBX comes to mind as one of the most ignorant and confusing document ever. Apparently they couldn't figure the difference between a port and a phone extension.

The only problem with a dictioary for phone systems is that every system calls the same feature or function by a different term. I have found this to be half the battle in working on different systems. I have been at this for over 25 years and have a good understanding of what I need to accomplish, it's just what the heck is it called on this system.
