Have a client with DSU (or DSU II, not sure) with software 07a (1632) and have installed a CID-08c. Have programmed all lines for Caller ID and have programmed two different extensions for Caller ID. Have verified SMDR print is on and COM2 settings are correct (9600,N,8,1). Verified all cabling and even see the data light flash on the CID08. I get nothing on any extension. Any help would be appreciated.

Wait for an expert to chime in, but I believe that, if it is a DSU, you need software ver 17 or better for caller ID. Is the cabinet black or gray? Also, the DSU has the software cartridge in a slot in the top of the cabinet, the DSU II had the software inside the cabinet. Find out for certain which it is and post back. Also, I believe that the cabinet must be revision E or better. Check the label on the side of the cabinet for a model number (G1632 or something similar) and revision number, then look for a little tag on a software cartridge. Post back with that info.

He most likely has a DSU II (7a is the software we upgrade all DSU IIs to).

Are you using a 4 or 8 conductor cable to connect the caller ID to the system? This diagram I found says you have to use a 4 conductor cable. Heres the link if it helps: https://www.btsal.com/fxpdf/Caller%20ID%20Inst%202.pdf

The 07a is a DSUII

Remove the serial link from the phone system
plug it into the back of your laptop. open hyperterm set to 9600,8,n,1
make a call, if CID is on the CO lines you should see it on the computer. if so check settings in phone system.

Also note that on CID08-c the dipswitches are incorrectly labeled. up is on down is off

Thanks for all the response and input on this issue. My apologies for not responding sooner. To answer a few of your questions... THe cabinet is Grey and the software is inside the cabinet. I have tried connecting the cable from the serial out on the CID08 to watch the caller ID info but I get nothing. I am not even sure if I have my pinouts correct to monitor this. I have not had a chance to get back to the customers site to verify the model yet but hope to before the end of the week. I checked all switches and verified they were correct based on the incorrect labeling. I am using a 4 conductor cord 'rolled' from the CID to the switch. Do I have an issue with the 07a software? Is this not up-to-date enough for the Caller ID?
Thanks again for all the help everyone.

have you verified you are getting cid from the telco?

Just listen between the first and second ring you should hear a small burst of data come down the line.

I have confirmed that Caller ID is coming on lines 2-4 but not on line 1. I set up a monitor on all lines at the demarc to verify this. I am getting the data light flashing on the CID08 for calls on these lines so I know the data is there. I just can't seem to get it on any phones. Is there a setting in the switch that would deny this or something. I am not the best when it comes to Comdial systems so I may be missing something. I went through the install steps as I indicated so there is either something I am missing that is not in the documentation or there is something preventing the info from getting to the thrree phones I have programmed for this.
Thanks again for all the help.

I almost forgot... The cabinet is marked J1632. The other sticker shows IT1630 and AT1630.
