I haven't been able to connect to an FX using VMMI or Comdial DX-80. I have no problem connecting using my old laptop (Windows 98 SE) so I am positive what the port settings are in the systems. On the Fx I can connect using hyper terminal in limited mode. When I try to connect with VMMI it just hangs.
I am using VmmI release 193 with 17b software. DX-80, i have tried 28 for sure and 32 i believe.
I am using Windows XP service Pack 2. I thought I had run accross a post about this but i can't find it.
thanks for any enlightenment.

I don't have any enlightenment for you, but I'm wondering if this is xp sp 2 on a dell machine? I'm having trouble with my dell laptops connecting through keylink to voicemail systems. I wonder if there is a relationship. Mark

Had the same problem with Belkin . Bought a GoldX GMXU-1200 USB to serial converter and had no more problems. Refered to a Toshiba dealer and it fixed their serial issue also. Might be worth a try.

This is really helpfull, My laptop doesnt have a serial port and was wondering how the heck I was going to plug-in to the dx-80 system as well. This saves me some trial and error.

These usb to serial cables were really hit and miss when this post was started in 06, now they most all work pretty well. I bought two no name usb to serial cables at wal-mart for a job site where I was leaving them on premises and they worked fine. Mark

I spent a tremendous amount of time researching this issue. This unit will even allow DOS programs to access the USB to serial with no problems in XP (not counting the XP problems itself). Manhattan USB The Belkin unit is probably the worst of all we tested. Bill Wade Deltron Inc.
