Where to start...

System was working fine (aren't they always) till I went into the VM w/ Keylink to setup some new Routing Boxes and Mailboxes. Decided to look around at all the settings as this had been one of my first DX-80 w/ VM installations about four years ago.

Now, the MWI updates seem erratic. Most users complain of MWI w/ no new messages. One user complained of no MWI w/ 5 new messages (one time occurance I think). I have tested leaving a message and see MWI activate but not deactivate after listening to the message and deleting it.

I've looked back at all the screens and all appears correct, including the MWI enable/disable strings in each mailbox. Port #8 is enabled for outbound calls. Low traffic system. Port 1 was 5K calls, 2 was 2K or 3K, by the time you got to ports 5-7 it was only double digits at most. Trouble was first reported one week ago Monday. I had waited for overnight and weekly automatic maintenance routines to run.

Still the MWI is troubled. What the *#^#&#($(#*&@)@&*@)(@&)@ did I do??? smile

Any suggestions? Someone please point me in the right direction so I can all of a sudden slap the forehead realizing some stupid mistake I've made.

Thanks!!

P.S. I had also, obviously, been reprogramming the KSU, w/ PC-DBA, but have since reverted back to the backup I made before starting any KSU programming changes. So the KSU should be as it was. Will do the old Comdial Tech Support Cold Start and DBase Upload tomorrow morning just in case anything "got stuck" in the KSU and is causing the erratic behavior.

If the unit was updating the MWI lights in a timely fashion until things were added or changed on the voicemail, perhaps the HD has become too fragmented. I think the VM defrags and reboots every Wednesday at 3AM. In certain installations, or after hefty changes, a weekly defrag may not be enough. You can edit a batch file to cause a defrag to run every night. From keylink change to the VM directory and edit diskm.bat

For every day listed, GOTO WED instead of GOTO END. After saving the changes, run diskm.bat to defrag and reboot the VM immediately. (make sure nobody is using it! smile . Also check that you're at least running release 8.5.11b on that VM...if not, you'll have MWI problems as the KSU won't be able to update the MWI's via the backplane. Send a PM if you need to load 8.5.11b.
