I have a DX 80 customer that continues to get a substantial amout of messages at station 101..except most of them are hang ups, busy signals, etc. I mean 40-50 . Any one else had this problem. Any suggestions.?
thanks

The LEC is not sending an open-loop disconnect signal when the calling party hangs up. It's either that or the system isn't programmed to process it. It's probably happening on other mailboxes too, they just haven't noticed it.

One thing you can do is in the routing boxes set it to: NO digits dialed say goodbye. This will help for customers that call in and hang up when they hear they are closed and the routing box is set to route calls to that mailbox if nothing is dialed aka rotary callers.

I usually do what BigDog suggested, for that exact reason. I also usually set the greeting to play twice, so the caller has ample opportunity to make a selection. Use the "Dial Zero" option if you need to offer "all other calls" option. That will minimize the hang-up messages. You will probably still get some, for those who reach a mailbox, and then hang up. But at least you won't get the ones that result from people hanging up at the main greeting.

By nature, people are intolerant of voicemail & auto-attendants. When a person is directed by a voice menu to push "zero" for the operator or to press "1" for the receptionist---and that person is not there and it goes into his/her VM---then the caller many times hangs up. My guess is that the voice menu may need to be "tweaked" besides the re-programming issues already discussed.
Programming a good AA menu & greeting is more of an art than a science--IMHO.
