Hi all,

We have a very small office where we use a Comdial Impact system with the Small Office Lite package. We just signed up for Caller ID assuming (I know, when you assume...) that it would come through the phone. Unfortunately, it doesn't so my question is how do we get it to work. We purchased the system 5 years ago and we don't have a programming manual. Thanks for any help.

You assumed wrong. This is one you'll need to call a dealer for. IIRC there's a piece of equipment that fits between the lines and the KSU.
www.callerid.com has the comparable box if your software revision is high enough.

If it's a DSU, You will need and external device that can interface with the phone system, it is a comdial part number.

You will need someone that knows Comdial to install it.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel..

If you can find one. They are scarce.

CID 08 or CID 04 are the parts you need.

Sigh,

From the callerid.com web site

Hardware to Support Legacy Installations

Our POS series units can be used as direct replacements for the following obsolete units: the TCI (Intronics) MLX-41 and MLX-82, the Bek-Tel PC-4 and PC-8, and Comdial Caller ID units. To integrate Caller ID into Aloha POS (Radiant Systems), Diamond Touch POS (Rockland Technologies), and phone key switch systems including Sprint Protege, Comdial, Telrad, and Executone, use the CallerID.com's POS series devices. These are drop-in replacements and match all baud rate and output format options.

The POS-4 and POS-8 are the units to get.

Aftermarket cid will work if oem can't be found. However, none will work if the software isn't the correct rev level!

Happy you have found a suitable substitute. There is also an outfit out of Alabama that has suitable substitutes for the Comdial parts.
