I upgraded a DX120 with a T1 card and the Caller ID NAME no longer shows up, but the number does. Before the upgrade, the POTS lines would show the caller's number and the name. Am using F20 firmware.

Telco said the T1 had been on National 1, so they switched me to National 2, but I still don't get the caller name to show.

Did I miss something?

I didn't think you could get Name on a T1?

You can get ANI but not name. Is it a T1 or PRI?

PRI you should be getting both if it is set for NAT2.

Its a T1 line. The whole reason for replacing the DXP with a DX-120 was the associated cost to upgrade a 14 year old system. The reason for T1 was to save several hundred dollars a month in telco line cost (Verizon sales suggested this in the first place).

Gotta be a PRI circuit to get name and number caller ID. Have Verizon reimplement the circuit as a NI2 PRI with name and number. Put a PRI card in the DX120 and they should be happy.

Called Verizon again, told them CID not working after they changed it from National 1 to National 2 and they said they never heard of a National 2. But they did say they could add it to the T1 as a monthly fee option.

That was over a week ago, still no CID *NAME* showing.

You can do anything you want but CID name is not going to work on a T1.

NI-2 is National ISDN #2 which is a PRI function.

I may have to revert them back to POTS service. The monthly phone bill was predicted to be only 2/3 of POTS service if they moved to T1, but I eventually figured out half a dozen of the POTS lines that went into the data center (which is why I left them alone) were actually left over from when they had dial-up modems at individual desks.

Total line count is:
6 local lines
1 FX line (not part of the T1)
4 voice response tele-banking lines
1 fax line
1 safety line for elevator and bank vault

That's a mere 12 lines, not 18 lines as originally considered for moving up to T1. They can get FIOS now, so I may look at that.

It sounds like the initial analysis and reason for going with T1/PRI has changed. Hopefully they won't now be soaked for the non-recurring (install) charges. That could prove to be a costly mistake. Then again, as I have found recently, it's still sometimes cheaper to pay the piper once than to hang on to the service for the length of the contract, if the service is no longer needed.

I looked back at the original FAX correspondence I had with Verizon and it shows I requested CID number AND name. Since they erroneous led me to believe they could deliver it on T1, we might be able to get a credit if necessary. Instead of buying back the DX1220 T1 card, I may just give them back their original CO expansion card and not charge them for the change over as it won't take me that long. That will give me a spare T1 card if I ever need one.
