I have a client with an older system, DSU II with a KeyVoice Small Office Lite system. What they would like to do is to have a menu option in the VM to affect a trunk to trunk transfer rather then transfer to an extension. The idea behind this is to allow afterhour emergency calls to be received by the owner's personal cell phone. Can the Small Office Lite system facilitate this and if so, what perimeters need to be programmed in the DSU II and in the VM?

I think the best way to do it (it's been discussed in varioous threads in this forum) is to have Centrex lines and have the VM do a Centrex transfer to the cell phone.

I'm not sure, but I don't think the DSUII can do a trk to trk transfer---I'm sure a regular Comdial mod will add something concerning that.

Just recently, someone responded to the same type of question and had an answer---but right now, I don't recall what it was. If I find the thread, I'll let you know.

can't do trunk to trunk, best you could hope for would be a conference but that would be lousey anyway. Centrex type off premises xfer is the way to go. Search this forum, it has been discussed. I've done it with the DX line but not a DSU, through VM the steps should be the same though.

I have several customers setup for vm notification on emergency calls. Primary or duty tech and if not answered, will call the owner. A good after hours menu is required. You can set an extension to CFOS when that extension receives a vm transfer! That's a function of the DSUII not the vm.

Mark's right - the Lite can do a Centrex type transfer. It works the same as the DX, but the sequence to initiate a transfer is different. (I believe there's different code for doing a hookflash on the DSU II and DX). From our notes, the sequence is !,,#04,,
