I had to re-boot a DX-80 a week ago to clean up some clutter in the Database ..the customer called back saying some of the Extensions don't grab an outside line when going off hook...., some do....?....they all did before the re-boot they said... I looked in the manual for a Prompt to allow an Ext to grab an outside line when going off hook , and can't find it.... Granted , I'm tired , and looking for a quick answer... Great site ! Thanks for any help jimy

It's possible that the reboot cleared the system's memory of which lines had no loop current and which ones did. I believe the system will either start at the highest C.O. port (16), or start at the highest available port (depends on cards installed). For this exact reason, I try to mark unused C.O. ports as "Empty", to avoid this type of report following power outages.
Once the system "learns" a port has no loop current, it won't use it in the line group again until the port is manually selected and loop current is present. All ports are in the first line group by default. I usually leave them in the group and just mark the unused ones as I said above.
If what I suspect is true, the problem will rectify itself once the line group has been tried enough times to get through all unequipped ports.

A cold start and/or database reload will also cause this type of issue. "User level" programming isn't saved in the database.
I learned this the hard way when I did a software upgrade for a customer a while back. After I left, his credit card machine wouldn't dial out. I had to go back and program automatic CO selection.

"User level" programming is not lost during a simple power outage, though. That is unless the memory battery is bad.
