I am trying to log into this unit using the proper password. I am in the CPU card in port 1, I have VMMI 198 & VMMI 192 to use and tried baud rates top to bottom. Am I in the right port and could I have just a bad cord from my laptop to the FXII?

Could be bad cord or wrong pin out. Use Hyperterm to see if you get the FX banner screen to test the serial hardware before using VMMI to login.

When I used hyper term this afternoon it hooked right up, but I went no farther, got back out and went back to trying VMMI. Couldn't get in, thought maybe com 1 was the wrong port as this unit does not have maint port?

If you hooked up via Hyperterm and didn't log off that session you'd have to wait for it to time out(20 minutes or so),or log back in and then logout, or reset the system. You can login on Com 1 or 2.

Thank You, before I left tonight I made a new test cord for com 1 to laptop, and will let you know of my accomplishments Friday sometime.

Rather Be fishing:
I found the issue to be a bad cord, all went well and was able to log right in after I changed it out. Thanks for the insight and assist. I am using a 25ft handset cord and I wonder if I wouldn't be better off with a flat base cord instead. I would not have the coil pulling on it when I am at a distance from the switch port. May I ask about programing issues in here, on the FX? I have some but would like to get my thoughts together before I present them if I may.

Get your thoughts together and ask away...if it is proprietary info that shouldn't be in the open public view for security reasons then there are a few here who can probably help via the private message feature. Glad you got logged in.

Unless you've modified it, a handset cord has different plugs (4p4c) on the ends than a line cord (6p4c or 6p6c). That may be contributing to your problem.

On my FXII issues, I did get in but it seems to be touchy doing so, now I can than I can't. But beyound that, my FXII issue is night transfer. I have a PRI feeding the switch, I have one number that after night transfer continues to ring at the desk and no one can answer it after hours. On the phone display is always two diff #'s that do not have anything to do with this dept but work in the same building. These same two numbers maybe outside the PRI coming in on copper. They are receiving no voice mails on this number after hours. How do I make sure this is going to a Voice mail night RTing box or not? Is it night COS?

Based on your posts, I would say that you are a bit in over your head. You might consider saving yourself some time and money and calling in a tech certified to work on the FXII. Doing so could have a double benefit: you get your issue resolved more efficiently, and you learn some pointers, first-hand.
