All of the prostar 800 phones that we have have basic 4 connection lines but they don't work -- when plugged in they make the phone beep or recycle over and over..I have to use a special round data cord...am I missing something??

Sounds like you got a reversal. Try flipping your pairs. Make sure you don't use straight through line cords. Which system 816 or 56/120?

try reversing yellow and black at jack
end
ksu is yellow pin2---------
green pin 3 --------
red pin 4 ----------
black pin 5 ----------
if you plug phone directly into ksu do they work ??
