This is a very difficult question for someone who really knows the system extremely well. I don't believe this is going to be something that you can just look up in a manual. This requires a true specialist of the Samsung system because no one has ever been able to answer this question so be prepared.

I basically need to know how to make the Samsung IDCS 500 send the last 4 digits to again to the analog extension after the line has gone off-hook.

The reason I is because my company has 60 people with individual fax numbers but a fax server with only 6 lines connected to the SLI analog extensions. I have a fax server software which will route based on the last 4 digits of the fax number dialed(not caller ID but fax# dialed).

I am going to copy and past the PABX system requirements from brooktrout fax board below:

The PABX should:

Provide a standard loop-start line for the TR114. (Loop-start is often
referred to as "POTS", for Plain Old Telephone Service.)

Be capable of assigning a sub-group of numbers to a single port. When any
number within the subgroup is dialed, the call is automatically routed to the
same port.

Be able to send down the dialed number, or part of the dialed number to
the port as DTMF digits after the call has been answered. This is commonly
called after-dialing, and is a feature provided for the PABX to
communicate with other peripherals, such as voice mail.

Send the first DTMF digit no earlier than 200ms after the call has
been answered by the TR114. Ideally this parameter would be programmable, or
significantly longer than the 200ms required by the TR114 to allow for delays
within the application.

Many systems are capable of sending down a pre-defined number of digits, and
stripping off any leading digits. For example, a typical system can be
programmed to send down the last 4 digits.

If you are able to answer this complex question it means you are in the top 1% of the best of the best samsung installers.

Anyone have any idea how to accomplish this requirement of " After-dialing"

Are You a Cert holding samsung dealer/installer or vendor??

You are correct this is not an installer question. So I have some questions of my own. Is there voicemail on the system and or are they thinking about it. Is there an AA in use? are you using a tepri card or standard c.o cards? all of these need to be in your post before anyone can help because the mmc's that need to be accessed could possibly damage the programming needed to make it funcional for the end user and a system reset could be your only hope of getting it back to a state of usefullness

the reason for the second post is that you stated 60 fax machines and only six lines I need to know how you are getting the routing table to see a different number than what the system will send ie a call comes in on 1234 and you need to route it to 1235 I understand how it can work but any phone system can only send the dtmf programmed thus if the dailed number is to be send again it will only go to 1234

IMPORTANT NOTE: All Brooktrout TR series
loop-start boards--TR114 boards and TruFax boards--are capable of doing DTMF
routing. However, the enabling and control of DTMF routing is entirely handled
through your fax software application. Questions on how to configure Brooktrout
boards for DTMF routing should be directed to the developer who wrote the
application you're using. The application must support inbound routing by DTMF
tones; please double-check this with the developer whose software you plan to
use.

"Manual" Sending of DTMF Tones *

* Requires extra steps on the part of the person sending the
fax, as no telecom equipment is regenerating DTMF digits to the Brooktrout
board

The sending fax machine dials the number for the TR114.

TR series board answers the call (goes off-hook); typically the fax
application instructs the board to play a tone (or in the case of TR114
boards, there's an option of playing a voice prompt) alerting the sender that
the board's ready to accept DTMF digits.

The sender types in the extension of the person they want to send the fax
to; if they're sending through a desktop fax program, they would type in the
number followed by a series of pauses, to allow the call time to reach our
board. The Brooktrout board would accept the digits, then answer the call and
receive the fax from there.

Hello.

I apologize if my post was a little confusing. I will try to clearify my question.

The only thing I need to know how to do is have the Samsung phone system send the DTMF tones after the extension goes off-hook.(after-dialing)

I have T1 service with a 3 block of 20 Direct dialing inward numbers(60 numbers total).

I assuming what someone who might of programed 3rd party voice mail systems works with sending and receiving DTMF tones right? I do have a 3rd party voice mail/AA(ALEEN)

What you quoted in your second post is different then what I'm trying to do.

That is for " Manual" Sending of DTMF Tones " what I'm trying to do is "DTMF Routing with Telecom Equipment" which is located on the second half of the article.

Please won't worry about the technical details of the fax server. That is already worked out but I am just missing 1 piece of the puzzle.

If someone dial fax number 517-555-4854, I need the phone system to send the number"4854" to the extension(in DTMF) AFTER it goes off-hook. Thats ALL!

That is called " After-dialing" I believe.

That's a tough application...

As far as I know, the 500 will not dial those digits for you. The requirements are too intense, especially the timing of the DTMF string. A delay of 200ms minimum?

It seems to me that you must process the call with your voice mail and program some translations so that when a call arrives for extension XXX (a virtual station in my scenario), it immediately forwards to mailbox YYY. The mailbox would be programmed to transfer that call to the fax server with dialing instructions appropriate for your system. I don't know if the Aleen is capable of that type of processing, but that's the direction I would go.

The samsung does not have that ability once an slt goes offhook the pri releases the dtmf and does not use out of band to give the extra tones so if you can change the trunks to E&M trunks then you can use mmc 714 to make them resend the dtmf and that should work but this is theory and samsung wont support it. otherwise Im sorry but it wont work unless you have the calling party enter the digits as stated in your link

I beleive it can be done by pointing the did's to virtual ext numbers that are set to external call forward with the pauses and digits needed though this option will require more equip ie. a trunkC1 analog CO card and some extra SLT ports so you could go out on a trunk group of slt ports then dial the fax server.

The only thing i would suggest is trying to setup the SLI ports a VM/AA ports, then use the DTMF signals to route the calls..

How would I do this? I'm assuming that you first:

1. Go to MMC 726?
2. Go to " CALL TYPE ID"
3. Scroll down to option# 7(DID CALL)
4. Now which setting would I use to send down the last 4 digits as DTMF tones?

Thanks.

why not just use the DID numbers. Most fax software can use the DID number for routing calls. That would make it much simpler
