Sonic,

You are on the right track with setting the ports as VMAA. I have tested this myself. The system will pass the DID digits to a VMAA port. Additionally, if you wanted to use a TEPRI card, this can be done as well for a digital intagration. Be sure that you turn the Progress Tone ID off in MMC 726. Additionally, turn of the Call type ID for DID call. The only thing left to pass will be the DID digits.

Additionally, if you are familiar with how to do DID pass through in networking. The same thing can be accomplished using a T1 integration with the Fax server.

TheTelephoneMan, I have to tell you.

I have talked to countless

1.Other phone installers from all over the country. Including Samsung "Specialist"
2.Talked to Brooktrout
3.Talk to Castelle
4. Biscom
5. Multitech
6. Countless Networking/IT people
7. Hylafax
8. Faxback
9. Even Called Samsung direct.

I have done countless google/yahoo searches, emailed anyone and everyone who deals with fax servers or Samsung phone systems.

No one, and I mean no one has every figured out how to do this.

I mean Brooktrout had some whitepapers saying what needed to be done however they could not explain how to do it on the system or give any tips. They just said " Oh, you just set your system to do this" but apparently no one in the Samsung universe or even most of the Fax server industry has any idea how to do this except you.

Congratulations, you are the first person in over 3 years of research and being told that " The ability does not exist" to be able to tell me how to do this!

How exactly did you figure this out. Have you also tried to setup a fax server using a T1 off your Samsung system? I mean, not even Samsung themselves knew this!!! You are clearly the best of the best and should get an award for your detailed knowledge of the system.

Hi Sonic,

I found your post in 2005 regarding setting up a fax server on the Samsung iDcs500 PBX.

I wondered if you got it working.

I have been trying to setup a fax server using Basic Rate on the Samsung.

The PBX technicians that I have been dealing with don’t seem to be able to get it right.

Do you have any documentation or a step by step procedure to get this right?

Samsung themselves don’t seem to know.

Thanks, Any input would be appreciated.

I've done many fax server installs with the Samsung 100, and 500 systems. Not much involved on the phone system side to set it up. For inbound faxes comming over a PRI the digits need to be sent through the analog ports going into the fax server or fax intel board (whatever your using) Put the analog ports into a station group set for sequential ring type. You also should set the analog ports for CO ring type and make them all VMAA type ports. Translate the fax DID's to the station group. Also in 726 there are a couple of changes that need to be made to make it work though it should not be posted here. If some one really wants to know how to do this PM me. I've got it working at a lot of installs. It's a good solution to provide to a company with thier phone system that has a PRI. Every one can have thier own private fax sent directly to thier outlook or other email. And it works great too. Takes 2 minutes to set it up in the Samsung. It can be done on any Samsung system that can do a PRI or T1 that does DID.

What are the settings in 726?

What type of software or hardware do you use on the other end to decode the DTMF signals?

Why does no one at Samsung or no dealers understand how to do this except you?

thanks.

The software or hardware depends on what fax solution your using. I have worked with GFI faxmaker (great product) and faxpress. They both do the same thing. I'm sure other dealers out there do this though Samsung might not know of it. GFI faxmaker works with an intel dialogic board in a PC and can be ordered with 2 or 4 port boards. The faxmaker software then controls the intel boards and you can set up your faxmaker users. Faxpress works in a similar manner though it's all done in one device and connects to your network. I don't want to give to0 much installer/programmer info on this board to keep in line with the rules. Are you a tech/installer nightcourt or an end user? I'd be willing to share the info on 726 and the rest of the set up but I want to make sure you're qualified to make these changes. Thanks.

I know it has been a few months since this topic was last touched, but I am working on this very thing and I hope maybe you can help me.

I am working on an iDCS 100 R1 with a PRI Card. I have 4 SLI ports going into a station group and have the DID's for the fax server directed to that group. I have changed the SLI ports to VM/AA and have made a couple of changes to MMC726.

The Fax Software is GFI Faxmaker and the Card in the server is Dial Logic.

According to the reports from faxmaker, they are not receiving the DTMF tones.

Reading Benb's post, it looks like i am almost there, but not quite.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
